National Champion Trees: What’s your Biggest Tree?

Can you quickly find the biggest tree(s) on your property? You might even hold the state’s record for the biggest tree of a specific species. Why might this be important? In addition to bragging rights, you can educate your guests and participants. Or you might use the information as part of your plans for managing the forest and/or grounds.

Measuring Guidelines: Trunk Circumference (inches) + Height (feet) + ¼ Average Crown Spread (feet) = Total Points.

American Forests’ National Big Tree Program is a conservation movement to locate, appreciate and protect the biggest tree species in the United States.

For more than 70 years, the goal of the National Big Tree Program has remained: to preserve and promote the iconic stature of these living monarchs and to educate people about the key role that these remarkable trees and forests play in sustaining a healthy environment.
