Designed for site managers by site managers, the Site Manager’s Seminar gives participants the chance to network and share with each other, discuss topics important to the job of a site manager, and bring home solutions to improve their camps.

TUESDAY NIGHT’S PROGRAM: “Getting Beyond the Basics of Emergency Response.” Special Guest Speakers: John Horton, administration director of Camp Stevens and Joseph Mondragon, Now Unlimited.
Tour four camps and go “behind the scenes” to see how they operate — hear from each camp’s site manager about the projects they’re most proud of as well as solutions found for the toughest challenges.
- Camp Cedar Glen: Solar heating system for pool, wolf education project (real wolf dogs on site!), trail building collaboration with AmeriCorps.
- Camp Stevens: New construction after 2007 fire, range of cabins on property including open air cabins and yurts, sustainable practices incorporated into program and operations (organic garden, solar panels, composting, etc.).
- Camp Winacka / Whispering Oaks: New straw bale buildings, “modern” tent camping area w/sheepherder stoves, in the process of converting all buildings to metal shake roofs.
- Whispering Winds: New construction since the 2007 fire; brand new kitchen, dining hall, chapel, and meeting hall; challenge course and 450 ft. zip line.
