Here’s a grate (pun intended) idea to decrease dirt, mud, and snow from entering the buildings.

Instead of using a carpet or mat outside, build a recessed grate before the door entry (flush with the concrete). The grime falls through the grate, and less comes into the building. To clean, remove the grate and clean underneath.
