CDC Releases Model Aquatic Health Code

mahc-collage-final-frontThe Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) voluntary guidelines address the design, construction, operation, maintenance, policies, and management of public aquatic facilities.

This is the first set of national guidelines that public pool operators can follow to help keep swimmers healthy and safe.

The MAHC is based on science and best practices and includes:

  • operating permits
  • inspections
  • equipment standards
  • aquatic venue operations and facility maintenance (including PM, facility documentation)
  • aquatic venue structure (shape, ladders, stairs, pool shell maintenance, etc.)
  • indoor/outdoor environment (lighting, electrical, glare, etc.)
  • etc.
