“To Do” List: Questions

Suppose you have a window of time for a project. What do you do? (Assume you’ve taken care of any top priorities, some PM, and corrected any immediate health or safety issues).

Instead of asking “what project should I do next” – try changing the question. Below are some different types of questions you might ask yourself.

  • What project haven’t I been getting to?
  • What project needs to get done before others can get done? For example, if the project is to organize an area, a precursor project might be building storage shelves.
  • What project would be fun to do?
  • What project would help me lessen my reactive work? For example, a proactive task.
  • What project would be good to get started?
  • What project has been annoying me and I just want to get it off my list!?

What question do you ask yourself? Is it the same one every week?
